VDFS' document numbering system is based on ESO's VLT Documentation Plan, VLT-PLA-ESO-00000-0005, Draft B, 5 July 1991 as adopted for VISTA The format for all VDFS documents is: VDF-BBB-CCC-DDDDD-GGGG BBB is type of document {\doctype}. Applicable BBB codes: PLA Plan SPE Specification SOW Statement of work TRE Technical report MIN Minutes of Meeting MAN Manual MEM Memo CRE Change request INS Instruction DWG Drawing AMD Format of Amendments RFW Request for Waiver DNO Discrepancy Notice SCH Schenatic/layout/diagram ICD Configuration Data Item List CCC is identified of company/organisation. Applicable CCC codes: ATC UK ATC specific documents JAC Joint Astronomy center WFA Wide Field Astronomy Unit Edinburgh CAS Cambridge Astronomical Survey Unit VPO VISTA Project Office WFC WFCAM UKI UKIDSS VSC VSC/Project Scientist ownership VEB VISTA Executive Board ownership VPB VISTA Project Board ownership ESO ESO documentation specific to VISTA DDDD is product code, which will tie into the overall WBS as defined elsewhere (TBD). GGGG is a four digit sequential number in each DDDD sub-group. If we follow this, then all our documents become, e.g. WFC-TRE-CAS-DDDD-GGGG ******************************************************************************* The above came from Jim, the following is my (STH) interpretation. I think DDDD should be the WP number and GGGG should be the doc number Some example docs would be: wfcampipedoc VDF-SPE-IOA-0002-0001 photom VDF-SPE-CAS-0011-0001 cal plan VDF-PLA-CAS-0011-0002 The bits I'm confused about are: 1: when do we use PLA, TRE etc ? 2: is the final number the absolute number of the document, the number of the document in it's specific WP or the number of the Type of the document in it's WP. At the moment i'm going for the middle one of those three. 3. I've used IOA instead of CAS.
