Weather Information

There are many useful sources of current weather information to help plan an observing session. Here are a few that I use regularly:

Current weather

• Meteosat movie from the University of Berlin. This now has six hour steps, which isn't much use.
• Meteosat ir movie for UK from Sat24.com
• Met Office six hour rainfall radar sequence. This has 30-minute steps.

Forecast weather

• German weather centre 7 day forecast. For those east of the Greenwich meridian provides a meteogram of clouds, pressure, temperature, wind and rain for positions at half degree intervals. [German titles] [Highly recommended!]
• German weather centre 7 day forecast. The same at one degree intervals for all of Europe.
• BBC 42 hour cloud and rain sequence produced by the Met Office (new 2009 August). This has three hourly steps, needs adobe flash player and has lots more besides. Best on a high speed link.
• Page to call individual cloud and rain frames from BBC
• Astronomical 2-day forecast from 7timer based on the US GFS model
• Oceanor forecast products [Includes clouds]
• Oceanor clouds only. As above but modified to get clouds only
• The BBC weather page
• The UK forecast from the Met Office
• UK Cities from Oneline Weather.com
• 10 day european pressure & rain forecast from Unisys
• US Air Force Europe Operational Weather Squadron
• MetCheck Select the forecast for your county, then choose cloud forecast.
• German weather centre German language only
