Ground-based observations in support of Rosetta Sergei Schmalz reports from the Asteroids Comets Meteors 2012 conference held in Niigata, Japan in 2012 May:
A presentation "The Structure of the Inner Heliosphere As Revealed by Amateur Astronomers' Images of Comets'", was given by Yudish Ramanjooloo. Abstract. The major reason to mention this presentation in the sohohunter groups is that Yudish and the team are looking for persons (including amateurs) interested in cooperation to analyze SOHO/LASCO images. So, if you are curious, feel free to write an email to him (the email address is given in the abstract). As Yudish told me in a personal talk, soon they should have a website dedicated to this work.Yudish Ramanjooloo, is a PhD student at MSSL who is studying comet ion tails and would welcome any amateur images that show such tail features. He is studying time evolution, so even those images of lower quality may be of use. Contact Yudish at yr2 [at] mssl.ucl.ac.uk if you can help.
